What is Beer O’clock?

For us, it’s that time at the end of a week (generally Friday afternoons) when it’s pens, mouses, keyboards away – and when (over a beer – or a ginger beer) we collectively sit back to think more strategically about where we want the business to head.

Our discussions at Beer O’clock are a stimulus for us to reflect on what we have learnt over the past week, in relation to:
1)  Interaction with clients;
2)  Development of products;
3)  Other dramas (or ephiphanies) during the week (if any);
4)  Book reviews;
5)  Event reviews;
6)  Guest visits;
7)  plus any other way we can beg, borrow or steal expertise and external objectivity.

Obviously we can’t solve all the world’s problems over a single beer (or even our own problems) but consistent, regular stimulation does help us improve.

Increasingly in the future, we’ll be trying to use these forums to gain an update on how everyone is progressing with their own Learning Plans (basically put together to accelerate their learning in an area they select that’s of relevance to the business).
